Volunteer Opportunities Abroad During Christmas Season

Just as the typical old song we used to hear during the Yuletide Season, we have been encouraged to “give love on Christmas Day”. Giving love may be in a form of giving gifts since this is the most common gesture people have been practicing. Gifts may be in a form of material things, which is also another common thing to do wrap on beautiful wrappers. Usually, kids are the ones who enjoy this gift giving experience. But for those who can render gifts prior to what wrap in Christmas wrappers, the other thing you could give during this season is your time and effort.

Not everyone may have the money spent to buy gifts, but definitely, all the people can render their time as gifts. This is then volunteering takes place. If you are looking forward to make a difference on this annual celebration, you may want to voluntary work abroad during Christmas Season.

Yes, there are lots of things you can do for Christmas. In fact, since there are so many things to do, volunteerism is highly needed and appreciated. This is the perfect time to render yourself along with your effort and time.

Foundations and charitable works need volunteers who are willing to give their time and effort in packing up relief goods and gifts for children in the orphanages. Some are having concerts, performances, and stage presentations for a cause and manpower is greatly needed for this mandate. Others are in need of catering various indigenous people to have a special feeding program for those illegitimate people across the globe. I know these things are not new to you. Whether you work abroad or stay in your locality, as long as you render yourself for the benefit of others, this is the best Christmas gift you can give to them.

There is a certain note in Facebook that needs volunteerism. Perhaps you are interested. Here is the post:

“Hello everyone,

We are currently seeking volunteers for our Christmas Camp in Bragg Creek, AB. We ask that volunteers commit to the full duration of the training and camp, arriving at camp on December 22 at 4pm for training and staying through until December 26 at 11am once campers have departed. However, we realize that not everyone can commit to the full time, so special arrangements can be made.

Volunteer benefits include room and board for the duration of the camp. Additionally, the camp provides a festive atmosphere and a great group of people to spend the holidays with.

If you have any special skills, like baking, music or arts & crafts, please let us know if you’d like to share these with our campers. We have lots of camper sessions that can be filled with creative activity ideas.

All volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application form and provide a current police record check and intervention record check (formerly child welfare check). All volunteers will receive a camp orientation as well as volunteer training.”

Volunteer Abroad Conduit for Peace this Christmas

When you desire to spend your Christmas holiday to other country, assimilate volunteering work abroad in that purpose for it can be real valuable. Plenty of charity projects are available even in the midst of this season to consistently help others. Community service is one of the examples, which is a sympathizing gift to offer back to a place that suffers vulnerability.

What is kind about community service is not only about accomplishing tasks needed to serve others, but the idea of making them happy being with them in the most special day of the year is more than a Christmas gift you ever receive in your life; the concern and empathy for other people in the process is a start of making a genuine difference of yourself.

Perhaps, among the biggest benefits that a volunteer gets upon participating in volunteer abroad are to build conduit of reconciliation, peace, and friendship in different culture. Dare to give up Christmas with family for Volunteer Travel?

I am one of the optimistic people who believe in the goodness of humanity. Though I am not financially endowed, I still want to volunteer abroad and share humanity’s goodness. My greatest dream is to be able to afford such activity. Of sharing a moment with someone who deserves it and someone who needs it.

I was so envious of Essaji who volunteered abroad during Christmas. Though she missed one Christmas celebration with her family but then it was well compensated.

Essaji according to what I read packed her bag as soon as the last item on an exam was answered and flew to South Africa and volunteered to help take care of kids. She went back on the day the class is about to start. Though she missed both Christmas and New Year’s celebration with her parents, she felt it was worth every moment of sacrifice away from parents on a holiday season.

When Essaji went home after the holidays the Christmas tree was still up so she feels as if she spent Christmas with them.

Essaji and the rest who give up Christmas and white snow on holiday seasons felt that if Christmas is indeed giving- they had fulfilled such deed.

South Africa seems to be a favorite not only of its Safari deals but also as a volunteer destination. Travel in South Africa either for a volunteer destination, work or a safari compensates every effort and penny you invested.

Though a volunteer abroad usually means fun, work and busy schedules… it also means a drop off on your way home to some of the popular tourists spot like the Cape Town, Western Cape, Johannesburg, Kruger National park, Pretoria, Durban, Pletenberg, Oudtshoorn, Port Elizabeth and Drakensberg Mountains.

A glimpse of these places right after a volunteer abroad in South Africa seals your volunteer travel.
